USA ON RUSSIA DAY
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Russians on “Russia Day”
“On behalf of the American people, I want to congratulate the Russian people on Russia Day.
The United States remains committed to supporting the Russian people as they continue to build on their aspirations for a brighter future. We also take this opportunity to reaffirm the United States’ desire for constructive engagement with the Russian Federation to bring about a durable peace between Russia and Ukraine. It is our hope that peace will foster more mutually beneficial relations between our countries”.
As we can see, the commitment to “supporting the Russian people” helped the chief American diplomat see that the Russian people “continue to build their aspirations for a brighter future” and to take the opportunity to “reaffirm the United States’ desire for constructive engagement with the Russian Federation to bring about a durable peace between Russia and Ukraine” and to hope that this “durable peace” would “foster more mutually beneficial relations” between the United States and the Russian Federation.
With exquisite skill and great diplomacy, the fourth-ranking official of the most powerful country in the world avoided even a hint that Russia had invaded the territory of Ukraine, that at any moment it could stop this war, withdraw all its troops from Ukraine, and establish a truly lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
With this greeting, the US Secretary of State demonstrated an absolute lack of understanding, or even unwillingness to understand, the nature of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
It is also worrying that M. Rubio took the liberty of expressing such a greeting “on behalf of the American people,” and not on behalf of the government, that is, the administration of the US president, which he actually represents. After all, sociological polls show that the majority of the American people, as well as their representatives in the US Congress, support Ukraine. It is thanks to this support that Ukraine holds the front and continues the fight against the aggressor.

«Від імені американського народу я хочу привітати російський народ з Днем Росії.
Сполучені Штати, як і раніше, віддані підтримці російського народу, який продовжує будувати свої прагнення до кращого майбутнього. Ми також користуємося цією нагодою, щоб підтвердити прагнення Сполучених Штатів до конструктивної взаємодії з Російською Федерацією для досягнення міцного миру між Росією та Україною. Ми сподіваємося, що мир сприятиме більш взаємовигідним відносинам між нашими країнами».
Як бачимо, відданість «підтримці російського народу» допомогла головному американському дипломатові побачити, що російський народ «продовжує будувати свої прагнення до кращого майбутнього» і скористатися нагодою «підтвердити прагнення Сполучених Штатів до конструктивної взаємодії з Російською Федерацією для досягнення міцного миру між Росією та Україною» й сподіватися, що цей «міцний мир» «сприятиме більш взаємовигідним відносинам» між США та РФ.
Вишукано й дуже дипломатично четвертий за рангом високопосадовець наймогутнішої країни світу ухилився навіть від натяку на те, що Росія вторглася на територію України, що в будь-який момент вона може зупинити цю війну, вивести усі свої війська з України і встановити справді міцний мир між Росією та Україною.
Цим привітанням Державний секретар США засвідчив абсолютне нерозуміння або й небажання розуміння природи війни Росії в Україні.
Викликає занепокоєння і те, що М. Рубіо узяв на себе сміливість висловити таке привітання «від імені американського народу», а не від імені уряду, тобто адміністрації президента США, що його він фактично представляє. Адже соціологічні опитування свідчать, що більшість американського народу, а також його представників у Конґресі США підтримують Україну. Саме завдяки цій підтримці Україна тримає фронт і продовжує боротьбу з аґресором.
