LEGITIMIZATION OF PUTIN
Is the EU ready for decisive steps?
The entire plan of President Trump for a meeting with Putin increasingly looks like a legitimization of Putin, a gradual betrayal of Ukraine and a readiness to discuss the capitulation of Ukraine without Ukraine and Europe.
It also looks that Trump doesn’t care about Ukraine and Eastern Europe at large. In his world it’s up to Europe itself to solve its own security issues one way or other.
Understanding the above, European leaders want to reach out to Trump before he meets with Putin. But can they affect Trump and his way of thinking?
Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he hopes Ukrainian President Zelenskyy will be involved at the Russia-US summit, according to Reuters. Merz also said he will have a call with Trump.
“We are preparing intensively at the European level together with the US government for this meeting,” Merz said. “And we hope and assume that the Ukrainian government and President Zelenskyy will be involved in this meeting.”
“We cannot accept that territorial issues are decided between Russia and America over the heads of Europeans and Ukrainians,” Merz said. He added that there can be no peace that rewards Russia’s aggressive actions and possibly encourages and emboldens further actions.
“The US has the power to force Russia to negotiate seriously. Any deal between the US and Russia must have Ukraine and the EU included, for it is a matter of Ukraine’s and the whole of Europe’s security,” Kaja Kallas said.
But are leading European nations capable and / or willing to offer their solutions?
What can the Europeans actually offer Trump? What is the plan of action if Trump continues to cave in to the Kremlin and insist on stopping American arms and intelligence supplies to Ukraine? Do the Europeans have a plan B, beyond concerns and condemnations? What new can the Europeans offer to stop the betrayal and convince Trump that Russia will not stop unless it is stopped?
Is the EU finally ready to confiscate Russian sovereign assets? Is the EU finally ready to close its borders with Russia? Is the EU finally ready to stop doing business with Russia, including buying Russian energy directly or through third countries such as India or Türkiye?

Весь план президента Трампа щодо зустрічі з Путіним дедалі більше схожий на легітимізацію Путіна, поступову зраду України та готовність обговорювати капітуляцію України без України та Європи.
Також виглядає так, що Трампу байдуже до України та Східної Європи загалом. У його світі Європа сама має вирішувати свої питання безпеки так чи інакше.
Розуміючи вищесказане, європейські лідери хочуть зв’язатися з Трампом, перш ніж він зустрінеться з Путіним. Але чи можуть вони вплинути на Трампа та його спосіб мислення?
Канцлер Фрідріх Мерц заявив, що сподівається, що президент України Зеленський візьме участь у саміті Росія-США, повідомляє Reuters. Мерц також сказав, що проведе телефонну розмову з Трампом.
«Ми інтенсивно готуємося на європейському рівні разом з урядом США до цієї зустрічі», – сказав Мерц. «І ми сподіваємося та припускаємо, що уряд України та президент Зеленський візьмуть участь у цій зустрічі».
«Ми не можемо погодитися з тим, що територіальні питання вирішуються між Росією та Америкою через європейців та українців», – сказав Мерц. Він додав, що не може бути миру, який винагороджує агресивні дії Росії та, можливо, заохочує та підбадьорює подальші дії.
«США мають силу змусити Росію до серйозних переговорів. Будь-яка угода між США та Росією повинна включати Україну та ЄС, оскільки це питання безпеки України та всієї Європи», – сказала Кая Каллас.
Але чи здатні та/або бажають провідні європейські країни запропонувати свої рішення?
Що європейці насправді можуть запропонувати Трампу? Який план дій, якщо Трамп продовжуватиме поступатися Кремлю та наполягатиме на припиненні поставок американської зброї та розвідувальних даних Україні? Чи є у європейців план Б, окрім занепокоєння та осуду? Що нового можуть запропонувати європейці, щоб зупинити зраду та переконати Трампа, що Росія не зупиниться, поки її не зупинять?
Чи готовий ЄС нарешті конфіскувати російські суверенні активи? Чи готовий ЄС нарешті закрити свої кордони з Росією? Чи готовий ЄС нарешті припинити вести бізнес з Росією, включаючи купівлю російської енергії безпосередньо або через треті країни, такі як Індія чи Туреччина?
