COST OF SELFISHNESS
«Tomorrow, January 15 at 1 pm, in front of the White House in Washington, we, US citizens with Ukrainian heritage and friends of Ukraine, gathering to express our gratitude and thank president Biden and the US congress for all of their efforts to help Ukraine since the outbreak of the full-scale Russian invasion. Also, we want to raise awareness and ask the US Congress to prioritize and urge the use of the Lend-Lease Act of 2022, which could save thousands of lives in Ukraine, help defend independence, and contribute to the growth of the US economy and worldwide stability».
This is an informative and advertising message from the profile of Bohdan Borovets, the founder and owner of the YouTube channel Diaspora UA. This message is being spread in social networks by a couple of other people.
Yuriy Pidvalnyi took the Soviet “Even one can be a soldier in the field” as his credo, who is once again organizing solitary pickets near the White House. Self-confident naivety gives only one result — zero.
By joining this action, B. Borovets hopes to attract “famous people”. One of them is the overused Andrei Illarionov and a couple of other people from the Russian-speaking diaspora in the USA, who suddenly became concerned about the fate of Ukraine.
All this is self-activity, stimulated by the desire to draw at least some attention not so much to the problem (in this case, Lend-Lease), as to one’s own personality.
This self-activity cannot compete with artistic self-activity, one of the bright representatives of which in the USA is Nadiya Shaporynska, incorporated as US Ukrainian Activists.
The effect of artistic amateur actions is also zero, but what kind of events do these activists organize with the main character in the center. “Beautiful!”, O. Arestovych would say.
And although, let’s repeat, the effect of such beautiful events is zero, the authorities of Ukraine give orders and medals for them. Even this does not even shine for self-activists.
It is noteworthy that these people — either of them — usually ignore really important, well-thought-out and balanced initiatives, which, with their active support, could already and still can give the desired effect.
There is only one explanation for this: the level of their national consciousness and civic maturity does not allow them to understand and comprehend all the huge problems that must be solved in the name of victory and successful development of Ukraine.
Individualism, multiplied by the selfishness of individual Ukrainians, has made it difficult for us to stage continuous massive protests near Russian embassies and consulates, as well as to ensure proper support for Ukraine in countries where large Ukrainian diasporas live compactly.
This disease prevents us from confronting Ukrainoalienated and Ukrainoindifferent forces in Ukraine itself. The same disease is the main brake in the formation of the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement. After all, it is this disease that poses perhaps the greatest threat to the very existence of Ukraine.

ЦІНА САМОВПЕВНЕНОСТІ
«Завтра, 15-го Січня о 1-й годині у Вашингтоні біля Білого Дому відбудеться захід для підтримки запуску лендлізу, який необхідний для швидкої перемоги України. Запрошуємо всіх діаспорян. На цьому заході ми ще раз подякуємо американському народу та уряду за підтримку України і також попросимо почати використовувати лендліз».
Ще радянське «І один у полі воїн» узяв собі за кредо Юрій Підвальний, який уже вкотре влаштовує одиночні пікети біля Білого Дому. Самовпевнена наївність дає один-єдиний результат — нуль.
Доєднавшись до цієї акції, Б. Боровець сподівається залучити «відомих людей». Один із них — заїжджений Андрєй Ілларіонов та ще пару осіб із російськомовної діаспори в США, які раптом заопікувалися долею України.
Усе це — самодіяльність, стимульована бажанням привернути бодай якусь увагу не так до проблеми (у даному разі ленд-лізу), як до власної персони.
Ця самодіяльність не може конкурувати з художньою самодіяльністю, одним із яскравих представників якої в США є Надія Шапоринська, інкорпорована як US Ukrainian Activists.
Ефект від акцій художньої самодіяльності так само нульовий, але ж які заходи влаштовують ці активісти з головною героїнею в центрі. «Красіво!», — сказав би О. Арестович.
І хоч, повторимо, ефект від таких красивих заходів нульовий, за них влада України дає ордени і медалі. Просто самодіяльникам не світить навіть це.
Прикметно, що ці люди — і одні, й другі — зазвичай іґнорують справді важливі, добре продумані й виважені ініціативи, які за їхньої активної підтримки могли б уже і ще можуть дати бажаний ефект.
Пояснення цьому одно: рівень їхньої національної свідомості й громадянської зрілості не дозволяє їм зрозуміти й осмислити увесь той огром проблем, які треба розв‘язати в ім‘я перемоги й успішного розвитку України.
Індивідуалізм, помножений на самовпевненість, окремо взятих українців, зашкодив нам влаштувати безперервні масовані протести біля посольств і консульств Росії, а також забезпечити належну підтримку України в країнах компактного проживання великих українських діаспор.
Ця хвороба заважає нам протистояти українобіжним і українобайдужим силам в самій Україні. Ця ж хвороба є головним гальмом у формуванні Руху Світового Українства. Зрештою, саме ця хвороба несе чи не найбільшу загрозу самому існуванню України.
