What’s better to raise awareness: signing and promoting the Appeal or buying and selling Born in Ukraine caps?

We have received the following letter via private messaging services from a guy from Paris, France. Please, read it carefully and think…

Hi, my name is Lucas Sevathian and I work for a company called House of Caps. We are engaged in a project called “Born in Ukraine” and we need the help of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Washington DC to raise awareness.

The goal is to sell the caps below to Ukrainians and friends (no matter where they are born). Buying these caps will at the same time contribute as a donation to an NGO. 81% of the profit for each cap sold is gifted to the NGO they choose. We are already partnered with Come Back Alive, United 24, Razom for Ukraine, and many more. Note that this list evolves daily.

We would love to have your authorization to communicate this link tree and a post to your community in order to raise funds for Ukraine. Please let me know how we can proceed.

I remain at your disposal if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you!

Lucas Sevathian

From UWIN:

We’ve checked the House of Caps site and Lucas Sevathian profile on Facebook.

Also, we noticed that the House of Caps is a production business and that this business is using charities not that much to help — in our case — Ukrainian cause, buy to promote House of Cap business and to sell its products. For this business doesn’t matter what actually is depicted on their caps.

On the company’s site there is a list of Ukrainian charities some of which are familiar for us and one is even related. We are not sure how much Ukrainian charities can benefit from this cooperation.

Lucas Sevathian’s profile is actually empty, and it alerted us. From time to time, the profile owner changes the cover photo and his own profile picture. That’s it! No friends in Ukraine or Ukrainian diaspora (he has just 184 friends). No single sign that the guy supports Ukraine, condemns Russia or anything like this.

We offered Lucas Sevathian to start our cooperation with adding his signature to the APPEAL BY REPRESENTATIVES OF UKRAINIANS WORLDWIDE & PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO SUPPORT UKRAINE & UKRAINIANS IN THEIR WAR AGAINST RUSSIAN AGGRESSOR and to convince more people to join our efforts. Let’s see how whether he understands that THIS IS MUCH MORE ABOUT RAISING AWARENESS than selling caps means.

Let the World to Hear Us!
