Someone introduced herself as Katerina Churkina (profile, created in 2020, is empty) is trying to share in Ukrainian Diaspora in Washington, DC group Facebook page the following text in… Russian (sic!) and in English. Because Russian is not a working language in this group, we skip it and show just the English version, omitting contact information:

Good afternoon! We ask for your help to find a sponsor (sponsors) for the program “Uniting for Ukraine” for family of 6, which includes a 36-year-old guy who has been professionally transporting goods around Europe for many years, a 34-year-old guy is a certified civil engineer who can independently perform any construction work, ready to retrain to perform other types of work, a 33-year-old girl, a lawyer with 10 years of experience, who is expecting of the second child at the end of May, a 63-year-old woman (accountant), a 69-year-old man (mechanical engineer, trade), child 2 years old. Each of our family members is ready to start working immediately upon arrival in the US and we will make every effort not to be a burden on our sponsor (our sponsors). We would be very grateful to you to speak or find a sponsor (sponsors) for our family according to the program “Uniting for Ukraine”, which was announced by US President Biden on April 21, 2022. Sincerely, Kateryna.

Maybe there will be somebody who will help this six persons family to establish itself in the Washington, DC area.

What concerns us at UWIN is that two men, 36 and 34 years old, somehow managed to escape from Ukraine as refugees and reached the United States (just guess how much they paid for six people to fly here from Europe).

Two young Russian speaking guys decided to wait for the war in America, and possibly get stayed here forever, joining the part of the Ukrainian diaspora that tends to “Russkiy mir” and will probably become part of the Russian diaspora in the United States. Having avoided participating in the defense of Ukraine (deserters?), they are unlikely to do anything useful for Ukraine or the Ukrainian diaspora here either.

Do these people deserve the support of the Ukrainian community?
