COME BACK NOT EMPTY HANDED
2 min read
Every week some international figure comes to Irpin and stands and stares near my home. Literally 5 mins walk.
Trudeau, Macron, Scholz, Draghi and Romania’s Klaus Iohannis, the head of the WHO, even Irish politicians, all do the same facial expressions and make the same pronouncements… Then they go home…
Guys… listen, I welcome you, honestly I do, but like many others suffering in Ukraine, I would appreciate it greatly if you bring something… windows, roofing materials, new doors, a few million… just pay at the door. Thanks.
There are growing frustrations at the obscenity of kindness.. sorry for your troubles, then silence. It isn’t right.
Don’t be telling me you will fix my home, because you won’t. If you were going to you would bring skilled workers, materials and money.
Don’t be telling me Ukraine must win. If you believed that you would bring missiles, rockets, artillery and ammunition.
So please… do come back, you are very welcome, but not empty handed.
I’ll make the tea!
Just mind the broken glass, roof materials and the bullet fragments from the tank that shot up my windows.
