Four leaders of France, Italy, Germany, and Romania arrived in Kyïv today to meet the president of Ukraine and talk about helping Ukraine to fight Russian aggression and Ukraine’s EU integration perspectives. Here are impression of the event by Emmanuel Macron, Mario Draghi, Olaf Scholz, Klaus Iohannis, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
It’s amazing how Ukrainians and Ukrainians are fighting back. For that, dear President Volodymyr Selenskyj, we pay you great respect.
I can guarantee: The financial, humanitarian and weapon supplies assistance we will continue as long as Ukraine needs our support. Ukraine shall live. Glory to Ukraine.
Ukraine is part of the European family. Together with my German, Italian and Romanian partners, we are confirming for President Zelensky that we support granting Ukraine EU candidate country status immediately.
In the next few days, as soon as the European Commission establishes a framework for discussion, we, the 27 EU member states, must make major, historic decisions in order to deliver on our promises. We must send a strong, clear message to Ukraine.
In the short term, we, as Europeans, will have to create new kinds of alliances in order to exchange views with Ukraine and, together, devise answers to questions relating to security, energy, mobility, infrastructure improvements and youth.
Prime Minister Mario Draghi, along with the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz and the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, met the President in Kiev king of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky At the end, they released press statements. European leaders visited the city of Irpin this morning. Before returning to Italy President Draghi met with journalists.

We are here in Kiev with President Zelenski, because we have a duty to act. It is our responsibility to continue to help our Ukrainian friends build a new future. Our focus is on the need for peace, reconstruction efforts, and restoring the future of this country. Securing the European integration of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Georgia at the next European Council meeting next week is an essential step in building a strong and sustainable shield around our values. It’s a testament to our ability to project security and stability in our neighbourhood. We can’t afford to hesitate!
Today is a truly historic day – Ukraine has felt the support of four powerful European states at once. And in particular support for our movement to the European Union. All leaders understand why negotiations to end the war are not under way. Exclusively because of Russia’s position, which is only trying to intimidate everyone in Europe and continue the destruction of our state. They do not want to look for a way to peace. We will continue to fight until we guarantee our state full security and territorial integrity.

We are not sure that it’s appropriate to be dreased in a t-shirt, plain pants and sneakers for meeting officially high guests dressed in suits with ties. Even during time of war.
The field military uniform is for wearing on battlefield, so that it would be comfortable in it on the battlefield, but not at an official political event.
