STANDING WITH UKRAINE
2 min read
I’m Swiss and Croatian. My family and friends suffered deeply in the Yugoslavian war. We know what hell tastes like. We know how it is to see tortured and slaughtered people, concentration camps and mass graves. We know exactly how the Ukrainians feel and thus do everything to support our fellow Europeans.
But there is also this weird phenomenon on LinkedIn: Some people claim to have experienced a war. They claim to be from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, an Arab nation, Africa, Asia or elsewhere. Ironically, they attack Westerners who support Ukraine. They immediately try to change the topic by referencing to “their war” or other wars. They call the support for Ukraine hypocratic. They say rubbish like what Russia is doing is small compared to what others did.
To these people, we people who really have experienced a war have the following message: Are you out of your goddamned mind? If you are not a bot, you sure as hell are a pro war troll. So please use that brain of yours for once to think about what you are actually doing by trying to divert the attention from the Ukrainians suffering right now to your poor self. Your envy is disgusting on every level and a slap in the face of everyone who actually HAS suffered in a war.
You’d better go offline or on Tik Tok. Linkedin is a platform for professionals working together to solve complex problems. It is a platform for supporting each other so that we all may have a prosperous life. If you support the blatant violation of international law and human rights, you are not welcome here.
