RUSSIA IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED

1 min read

There is news that Russia is pulling back some of their troops from the border of Ukraine.

Few thoughts:

1. What they say and do is two different things. They withdrew troops (small amounts) last time but left most of the equipment in place, where it remained until they came back.

2. More importantly, the DUMA (Russian parliament) just voted to recognise the two areas of Ukraine that Russia occupied as independent states. This is in and amongst itself a hostile act towards Ukraine, and could easily be used as a pretext for even more Russian troops to invade Ukraine on top of those already there.

Ukrainians know this, and won’t let their guard down. I am most concerned that western media will report this as “Putin blinked”, proclaim victory or say the crisis has passed, etc.

DON’T DO IT.

Russia is not to be trusted.

Oh, one other thing: Congress where are you?Away on break? Where is the sanctions bill that has strong bi-partisan support (supposedly)? It should be imposed now, or at bare minimum be ready to go if Russia invades again! Is pending large escalation of war in Europe that has already claimed nearly 15,000 lives and displaced 1,600,000 from their homes not important enough of a reason to come back early?

DO YOUR JOB!
