ВІДСТОЯЛИ ГОПАК

Як всі знають, ми вже майже пʼять років живемо в США. Наші діти ходять у звичайну американську школу. Вони також мають різні додаткові уроки, спорт і музика.

Наш син Любчик грає на саксофоні. На уроці музики, минулого тижня, їм роздали ноти. У них має бути весняний концерт. Коли Любчик отримав ноти і побачив надпис: «Hopak russian folk dance», він підійшов до вчителя і сказав, що аж ніяк не російський танець, це Український.

Щоб ви розуміли, в Америці ви не можете просто роздрукувати ноти або десь їх взяти. На використання будь чогось невашого ви маєте отримати дозвіл.

Що стосується нот, є компанії, які мають дозволи на розповсюдження. Так ось, після того, що наш син сказав вчителю, вчитель написав у компанію, яка постачає ноти для школи і сказав: що Hopak — це український танець, у нас є учень з України і він нам розповів історію про Гопак.

Що відповіли у компанії: ми приносимо свої вибачення, ми вилучаємо всі надіслані ноти, де написано, що це російський танець. І найближчим часом буде розіслано всім нашим користувачам ноти з правильною назвою.

Для тих, хто не знає, Гопак — це Український танець Запорізьких козаків. Відстоюємо своє повсюди.

HOPAK DEFENDED

As everyone knows, we have been living in the USA for almost five years. Our children go to an ordinary American school. They also have various extra lessons, sports and music.

Our son Lyubchyk plays the saxophone. In music class, last week, they were given sheet music. They are having a spring concert. When Lyubchyk received the sheet music and saw the inscription: “Hopak Russian folk dance”, he approached the teacher and said that it was not a Russian dance at all, it was Ukrainian.

Just for you to understand, in America you can’t just print sheet music or pick it up somewhere. You must obtain permission to use anything that is not yours.

As for sheet music, there are companies that have distribution licenses. So, after my son told the teacher about us, the teacher wrote to the company that supplies sheet music for the school and said: Hopak is a Ukrainian dance, we have a student from Ukraine and he told us a story about Hopak.

Here is what the company replied: we apologize, we withdraw all the notes sent, where it is written that this is a Russian dance. And in the near future, a sheet music with the correct name will be sent to all our users.

For those of you who don’t know, Hopak is the Ukrainian dance of the Zaporizhia Cossacks. We stand up for ourselves everywhere.
