МИСТЕЦТВО ДОМОВЛЯТИСЯ
…і плювати в обличчя міжнародному праву
Якщо ви читали повну заяву Кремля за підсумками розмови Дональда Трампа і Володимира Путіна, спробуйте поглянути на неї інакше.
Почніть з кінця.
Адже найважливіше для Путіна — саме там. І це не Україна, не Близький Схід і, уявіть собі, навіть не хусіти.
Важливо, що спільного комюніке за підсумками розмови не було, а отже, кожна сторона оприлюднила усе, що їй було важливіше. У заключній частині, яка добре всім запам’ятається, Кремль висловив неприховану радість від солідарного голосування США і Росії в ООН, про взаємовигідне співробітництво в економіці (це в розмові з президентом країни, яка наклала на неї, мабуть, найбільший пакет санкцій! та… хокей.
Москва вибудовує свою стратегію обережно, але наполегливо. Там чудово розуміють, який ефект справила позиція США щодо резолюції по Україні. Можна було б промовчати, минуло вже чимало часу, але саме цей момент Кремль виніс у підсумковий текст розмови з Трампом. І це дуже не тонкий натяк на розкол Заходу: якщо Білий дім почне діяти в ООН окремо від Брюсселя і Лондона, про єдину антиросійську лінію можна забути. Але Вашингтону не просто байдуже до старих правил — йому на них начхати так само, як і Москві. А отже, між Росією та США знову можливі домовленості.
Проте геополітика — не єдиний мотив. У заяві йдеться про «нормалізацію двосторонніх відносин у світлі особливої (що?!?!) відповідальності Росії та США». Це ключовий момент. Кремль відчайдушно намагається повернутися в глобальну економіку, навіть попри війну. Росії життєво важливо знову стати частиною світового ринку. А отже, санкції мають послабшати. Усі розмови про «перспективи співпраці» — не що інше, як завуальована пропозиція: можна ж домовитися, знайти можливості, провернути оборудки. Make some deal.
І от тут з’являється хокей. Але це не про спорт. Це образ старої доброї «дружби народів», який у обох старих викликає ностальгічні асоціації з епохою холодної війни — але без санкцій, без війни і ядерних погроз.
Росія намагається знову виглядати «нормальною» країною. З якою можна вести справи, запускати ракети в космос, міняти циган на ведмедів і проводити спільні заходи. Мовляв, «Давайте вже жити дружно», поки ми паралельно будемо вбивати, грабувати, ґвалтувати і плювати в обличчя міжнародному праву.
Врешті-решт, чим ви гірші — давайте плювати їм в обличчя разом.

THE ART OF NEGOTIATING
…and spitting in the face of international law
If you read the full Kremlin statement following the conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, try looking at it differently.
Start at the end.
After all, the most important thing for Putin is right there. And it’s not Ukraine, not the Middle East, and, imagine, not even the Houthis.
It is important that there was no joint communiqué following the conversation, and therefore, each side published everything that was more important to it. In the final part, which will be well remembered by everyone, the Kremlin expressed undisguised joy at the joint vote of the US and Russia in the UN, about mutually beneficial cooperation in the economy (this was in a conversation with the president of the country that imposed, perhaps, the largest package of sanctions on it!!) and… hockey.
Moscow is building its strategy carefully, but persistently. They understand perfectly well what effect the US position on the resolution on Ukraine had. We could have kept quiet, a lot of time has passed, but this is the point that the Kremlin included in the final text of the conversation with Trump. And this is a not-so-subtle hint at the split in the West: if the White House starts acting in the UN separately from Brussels and London, we can forget about a single anti-Russian line. But Washington is not just indifferent to the old rules – it doesn’t give a damn about them just like Moscow. And therefore, agreements between Russia and the US are possible again.
However, geopolitics is not the only motive. The statement talks about “normalization of bilateral relations in light of the special (what?!?!) responsibility of Russia and the US.” This is a key point. The Kremlin is desperately trying to return to the global economy, even despite the war. It is vital for Russia to become part of the world market again. And therefore, sanctions must be eased. All talk about “prospects for cooperation” is nothing more than a veiled proposal: we can agree, find opportunities, and make deals. Make some deal.
And here hockey appears. But it’s not about sports. It’s the image of the good old “friendship of peoples”, which in both old people evokes nostalgic associations with the Cold War era – but without sanctions, without war and nuclear threats.
Russia is trying to look like a “normal” country again. With which you can do business, launch rockets into space, exchange gypsies for bears and hold joint events. Like, “Let’s live together”, while we simultaneously kill, rob, rape and spit in the face of international law.
After all, the worse you are—let’s spit in their faces together.
